Course Description

The course focuses on developing and improving functional and communicative competency in the area of Tourism & Hospitality.

ie ESP Tourism & Hospitality is offered at three levels:
Elementary
Intermediate
Advanced
 
Who Should Attend? ie ESP Tourism & Hospitality is for
Students who are currently pursuing a tourism or hospitality course and need a specialised English course to help them cope with the language demands of the course
Staff from various levels working in the tourism or hospitality industry who need to enhance their English language skills
 
Course Learning Objectives This course is designed to develop and improve English language proficiency through these components:
Reading Skills
Writing Skills
Speaking Skills
Listening Skills
Vocabulary Development
Grammar
 
Course Outline The content of this course focus on these skills:
Understand and engage in formal and informal conversations with people
Listen to and comprehend excerpts of conversations and speeches
Listen and understand specific information from telephone conversations
Listen and respond to complaints with empathy
Acquire the vocabulary used daily in the tourism and hospitality industry
Ask for and give necessary information about other people or themselves
Ask for and describe daily activities, past experiences and future plans
Give basic descriptions of people and places
Give simple directions and instructions
Read and understand short, basic written descriptions from advertisements, timetables, lists, signs etc
Apply relevant writing skills in their jobs, e.g. responding to enquiries
ie ESP syllabus is designed to fulfil the needs of individuals and organisations that wish to customise the learning or training of English. The materials designed can be tailored to suit their needs and objectives. Student profiles will be collected prior to the customisation and delivery of the Course.
 
Learning Methodology The training methodology will include lectures, discussions and exercises and eLearning.
